ALT Linux releases Centaurus 7.0 and Simply Linux 7.0 based on the Seventh Platform

ALT Linux announces the release of Centaurus 7.0 and Simply Linux 7.0 distributions based on the Seventh Platform. This is the first release of Simply Linux compatible with the ARMv7-based Cubox computers.

ALT Linux 7.0 Centaurus is a multi-purpose Linux distribution for servers and workstations that is primarily tailored for use in corporate networks.

ALT Linux Centaurus provides:

  • A choice of configurations (e.g. web server, graphical desktop) during the installation

  • A choice of user interfaces: console, MATE or FVWM

  • A possibility to either set up an integrated network solution based on Kerberos/LDAP/Samba or to use only separate services

  • Installation of a variety of server and end-user solutions from a single disk

  • Facilitated deployment of diskless client networks

  • Ability to choose between two initialization systems when setting up in the “server” mode

Simply Linux 7.0 is an easy-to-use system with a familiar user interface that is designed for use on corporate workstations and home computers. In addition to the conventional 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Simply Linux 7.0 is the first release to also provide a fully-functional build compatible with the miniature Cubox computers based on Marvell Armada 510 CPU with ARM v7 architecture.
