Tenth Anniversary Conference of Free Software Developers

Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to invite you to the Tenth Anniversary Conference of Free Software Developers that will take place on September 20-22, 2013 in the city of Kaluga in Russia.

The Conference will gather leading Free Software developers from Russia and abroad in order to establish and strengthen personal contacts, discuss the prospects of Free Software development and investigate the opportunities for new projects.

A collection of abstracts is expected to be published by the start of the Conference.

Participants are invited to give talks on the following subjects:

  • Free Software development projects

  • Academic projects in various fields that involve development of freely licensed products

  • Cultural, philosophical and legal aspects of free licensing

  • Free Software for government agencies and public sector

A panel discussion is expected to take place during the Conference (subject of the panel discussion is to be confirmed). The Steering Committee accepts applications for other panel discussions before September 7.

In order to present a talk at the Conference, it is necessary to send an email application to conference@lists.altlinux.org before August 15, providing the following details:

  1. title of the talk;

  2. 3-5 keywords;

  3. summary;

  4. URL of the project discussed in the talk (if any);

  5. name, first name and patronymic (if applicable) of the author (authors);

  6. corporate or academic affiliation;

  7. contact email address;

  8. accommodation preferences (whether or not a hotel room is required, preferred class of the room, dates of arrival and departure).

If the application has been accepted by the Steering Committee (before September 7), an abstract should be emailed to the same address before September 10 with the following details:

  1. title of the talk;

  2. summary;

  3. URL of the project discussed in the talk (if any);

  4. name, first name and patronymic (if applicable) of the author (authors);

  5. corporate or academic affiliation;

  6. abstract (no more than 5000 characters).

Abstracts are accepted in one of the two formats: LaTeX or OpenDocument (.odt).



Abstracts of talks will be published in Conference Proceedings (black-and-white print).

The Agenda Committee will announce its final decision concerning the publication of the abstract and invitation of the speaker by September 10. Officially invited speakers are exempted from the participation fee; if the talk is given collectively by several speakers, only one co-presenter is exempted from the participation fee.

In order to take part in the Conference as a visitor, it is necessary to:

  • send an application by email to conference@lists.altlinux.org before September 20, providing the following details: full name, position, corporate or academic affiliation, email and mailing address, and desired accommodation.

The Steering Committee cannot guarantee to accommodate all participants in accordance to the preferences stated in their respective applications. Early submissions will give the Steering Committee more chances to allocate suitable accommodation.

In case it is impossible for a speaker to attend the Conference, the Steering Committee will consider the possibility to present the talk in the absence of its author.

Accommodation

The Steering Committee offers help in finding suitable accommodation to those participants who have submitted their applications by due dates.

Cost of accommodation for a single person starts at 1500 roubles/day. A detailed list of hotels is being confirmed.
