ALT Linux participated in the Week of Russian IT in Venezuela

ALT Linux participated in the Week of Russian IT in Venezuela that took place in Caracas, on April, 19-25.

Other participants include Russian companies ABBYY, ASCON, Digital Design, PROMT, and Venezuelan ACS Systems, an official representative of Kaspersky Labs.

Each company was given a time for a speech; the last day was carried out in the format of "workshops".

Alexey Rusakov from ALT Linux has spoken on two topics: "GNU/Linux: a new level of transparency, extendability, communication" and "ALT Linux solutions for contemporary business".

Alexey Rusakov shared his impression of the event:
"There is a considerable interest to Free Software from both public and private sector. The event appeared to be successful: we established contacts with local companies, we plan further cooperation with Softline in Venezuela, including organizing a local technical support service point. We're also considering the plans to create an educational center on Free Software and, particularly, ALT Linux products."

ALT Linux Brasil, the division of ALT Linux that is currently working with Latin America, is in the process of creating a localized distribution for Venezuela and other Spanish-speaking Latin countries. The distribution will be available in Venezuela thanks to Softline International de Venezuela.

ALT Linux thanks Softline group for the event organization and a warm welcome.
